MEET REAL ESTATE COACH

MATT MARSOUPIAN

MATT MARSOUPIAN

Birmingham, MI
Glover U Coach

Matt entered the real estate industry in 2004 after graduating from Western Michigan University. He was selected as one of only 4 graduates from the major universities in Michigan to begin a career with Pulte Homes, at the time the largest homebuilder in the United States. After completing a 6 month training program on sales, construction and mortgages, he spent the next 5 years selling single family homes and condominiums, including entry level, move-up, luxury and Pulte’s “55+” Del Webb brand in communities throughout Metro Detroit.

As the economic downturn hit new construction especially hard in 2008, Matt took an opportunity in commercial real estate at Friedman Real Estate Group, one of the largest full-service commercial real estate companies in the midwest. Matt worked alongside the CEO and Executive Vice President to provide both landlord and tenant brokerage as well as strategic consultative services in many different industries helping large and growing companies with their real estate needs.

Although he was still working in “real estate”, Matt missed the personal interactions that the residential side of the business provided. In 2011, when the opportunity presented itself to join a small startup company, Matt took a leap of faith. The company, Marketplace Homes, provided real estate solutions for consumers' homes or condos that were financially upside down, allowing them to purchase a new home anywhere in the country. With the company’s guaranteed 7 year lease program, they were one of the first companies breaking the traditional model of real estate brokerage, property management and leasing. Over the next 5 years Matt worked in sales, operations and leadership, helping to grow the company to over 100 employees and earning a spot on the Inc 500 list as the nation's fastest growing companies with over $30 million in revenues and 2,000 properties under management.

With a desire to build something of his own, Matt left Marketplace Homes in 2016 and started a real estate brokerage with a partner and previous coworker. They sought to utilize their sales, marketing and customer experience to help buyers, sellers, investors and builders in Metro Detroit. Their first year they sold over $15 million in real estate and started to grow a brokerage of agents and administrators. As they grew, they realized that what they really wanted was to grow a team and not a brokerage and decided to move their business to the fastest growing office in Metro Detroit based in Birmingham, MI. Rather than reinvent the wheel, they sought to be in an environment with some of the area and nation’s top producing real estate teams, doing so took their business to $21 million in sales in 2017 and over $30 million in sales with 100 closed transactions in 2018.

As Matt & his partner navigated such quick growth, they sought coaching from Matt Sutter, a successful leadership and business coach (and current Glover U coach). Over the next few months they evaluated what models and systems they were following (and not following) and what vision they had for themselves. They came to the realization that in order for them both to continue to grow and prosper they dissolved their team, and moved forward as solo agents.

So in 2019, Matt set out on his own, out of a new office location in Novi, MI where he sold just under $8 million in volume. At the same time, he was given the opportunity to take over his new office’s Productivity Coaching Program that trains and coaches both new and experienced agents who join the brokerage. Despite a global pandemic and shutdown in real estate activities in 2020, Matt and the team grew the production from agents in the program over 35% to $33.8 million dollars in total sales volume and over $1 million in GCI.

When approached about partnering with Glover U and being able to make an impact on more agents throughout the country, Matt felt as though everything he’d accomplished to that point had prepared him for that role.

A native Michigander, Matt was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He attended college at Western Michigan University, majoring in Business Management. He is married to his high school sweetheart and they live in South Lyon with their 10 year old daughter and 7 year old son. Matt loves to say that he has been working towards living his “Unreal Life” even before he had heard the phrase. When he isn’t working with customers or coaching other agents, he is obsessed with looking at homes online, studying business and personal finance, being outdoors and enjoying amazing experiences and memories with his family.
